Liposuction Vs. CoolSculpting

Liposuction Vs. CoolSculpting

For years, people looking for cosmetic procedures to help with unwanted fat turned to liposuction to get the results they were looking for. While liposuction was able to provide results with a single treatment, it required surgery, several days of downtime, and a considerable amount of time to see results due to swelling. Now with CoolSculpting, an FDA-cleared treatment, it makes it easier for patients to get the fat reduction results they are looking for.

Similar to liposuction, it is a medical procedure designed to target unwanted fat. Both procedures can deliver similar, noticeable results when it comes to removing fat. However, there are some key differences between the two services that have more people than ever turning to CoolScullpting.

CoolSculpting is Non-Surgical

One of the biggest differences between CoolSculpting and liposuction is that CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure, while liposuction involves a serious surgery where you must be put under anesthesia. Typical liposuction surgeries take up to two hours and recovery takes a few days. With CoolSculpting, a treatment can take as little as 35 minutes and takes little to no downtime.

CoolSculpting Has Fewer Side Effects

Since CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical procedure, it comes with no surgical risks. However, most people experience some mild side effects including temporary redness, swelling or skin sensitivity along with aching or a tugging sensation at the procedure site.

With liposuction, there can be many various side effects including, skin discoloration, irregularities in skin shape, fluid accumulations, skin infections, temporary or permanent numbness, fat embolisms and internal puncture wounds. There is also a risk for kidney or heart problems caused by body fluid levels during the procedure as well as complications related to anesthesia.

CoolSculpting Results Are Noticeable Within a Few Weeks

With CoolSculpting, full results can be seen around three months after the last procedure, but results are typically noticeable in just a few weeks. With liposuction, it can take several months for the full results to be seen as the swelling starts to come down.
